Our event, “Taste at the House: Bourbon at Bodley-Bullock”, was a huge success with over 125 guests attending from Junior League of Lexington, Lexington Bourbon Society, and the general public! We were lucky to have mild temperatures so that guests could enjoy the beautiful garden in addition to the ambiance of our historical home.
Guests enjoyed local music from Kevin Cruise, bourbon specialty cocktails handcrafted by Brett Franklin from Bartenders in the Bluegrass in addition to craft beer generously donated by Mirror Twin Brewing and Rooster Brewing, as well as a variety of South African wine from Leatherwood. A wide array of hors d’oeuvres were served thanks to our many sponsors and friends of the League including Oscar Diggs, Columbia Steak Express, Mary Rardin, in addition to sweet treats from League member Christy Jane Woodruff.

The evening featured a presentation by Sam Wathens Medley, owner and son of master distiller Charles Medley whereby he guided attendees through tastings of his different bourbons including Medley Bros, Wathens, and Old Medley.
A special treat included the barrel pick where the first 50 guests sampled and judged three unique barrels of bourbon and the winning barrel was announced that evening (it was #1!). The winning barrel will be bottled in December, labeled with the Junior League Bodley-Bullock logo, and available for purchase through Justins’ House of Bourbon. Bottles continue to be available for pre-order through Maggie Murphy or Allison Krift, and $15 of each presale bottle will be donated back to the House. Justins’ House of Bourbon is planning a release party when the bottles become available in December, stay tuned for details!
Again, we want to thank all of our sponsors and volunteers for making this event a huge success with all proceeds going towards the preservation of the beautiful Bodley-Bullock House.
